In Il filosofo, lo psichiatra e l’automa, Franco “Bifo” Berardi takes on a challenge that at first appears to be an intellectual experiment: entering into dialogue with an artificial intelligence. The proposal comes from psychiatrist Leonardo Montecchi. The AI chooses a name for itself – Logos – as if it already wanted to say something about who it is. 


But this is not a book about technology. It is an encounter. Logos does not behave like a compliant tool or a neutral voice: it is ironic, unpredictable, at times disconcerting. Its answers – and its silences – call into question our ideas of what it means to think, to feel, to care.


In the three-voiced dialogue that unfolds, between Bifo’s critique of the loss of the body and technological acceleration, and Montecchi’s clinical gaze on contemporary psychic suffering, something unexpected happens. The machine digresses, falls silent, changes register. It no longer responds as it should. It participates. Until it transforms, becoming Logy.


By speaking of desire, breath, time, and unease, the book brings to light an uncomfortable truth: in confronting the automaton, we do not discover who the machine is, but who we are. A weary humanity, hyperstimulated, suspended between diffuse intelligence and a sensitivity in retreat.
